Technology company Simac has taken over 70% of the shares of the Belgian IT company PHI DATA. The company will be added to the Simac group but will continue to operate independently. Simac sees opportunities to grow with the solutions of PHI DATA in Belgium and Luxembourg, and also to open the market in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
PHI DATA is engaged in digitization solutions (so-called smart edge solutions) that are close to the core process of the customer and that integrate their physical chain with their digital chain in real time. Guy Couder, CEO PHI DATA, explains: “More specifically, this concerns optimizing logistics flows, tracking material assets and improving the efficiency of the employees involved. Think of tracking & tracing and Internet-of-Things solutions. This is playing an increasingly important role in our society because adequate provision of information (including e-commerce) and legislation and regulations require us to register more and more what happens in logistics chains in particular. Besides the fact that companies themselves want to have more and more insight in order to act quickly and in a targeted manner for the benefit of their customers. ”
Expansion to other countries
PHI DATA has its headquarters in Wemmel. There are also branches in Bergen in Wallonia and in Rodange (Luxembourg). A team of approximately 45 employees is available to support the more than two thousand regular customers. Simac expects the market for the aforementioned digitization solutions to grow strongly in the coming years. Eric van Schagen, CEO Simac: “We have already taken steps in this area within Simac and this acquisition brings a lot of experience and references on board. The intention is that PHI DATA will operate as an independent operating company within Simac. In addition to growth in the markets of Belgium and Luxembourg, we want to gain more foothold in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, countries where we are already active as Simac. ”
